If you are looking to kick your year off in Breckenridge, this is your guide to getting the most out of your New Year’s Eve celebration in order to start off 2017 in the most enjoyable way possible.
Torchlight ParadeA Breckenridge tradition, the Torchlight Parade is performed by the Breckenridge Ski & Ride School. Every New Year’s eve at 6 pm, instructors carry torches from the top of peak 9 down to the base area. The Coppertop balcony provides some of the best views for this luminary procession, however the parade can be seen from almost anywhere in town. Kids 5 – 13 can even participate in the smaller Glow Worm parade which takes place at 5:45. This parade allows young skiers and riders to carry glow sticks down easier peak 9 terrain. Registration for the glow worm parade starts at 5 pm and is located at the Beaver Run Ski and Ride School. Both light parades are weather permitting.
FireworksWhile the Torchlight Parade happens on the mountain, the fireworks display is a Town of Breckenridge tradition. The electrifying New Year’s Eve display starts at 9 pm and can be seen all over Breckenridge. Catch this colorful show from Beaver Run or walk the short distance into town for an up-close view. Firework display is weather permitting.
