It is important to know that not everyone in your group or family is going to enjoy the skiing aspect of a Breckenridge vacation. Luckily, there is a lot more to do than just hitting the slopes this winter. Breckenridge is full of recreational opportunities and in this post, we’re going to go through several fun activities that don’t involve skiing.
Everyone loves dogs, and snow dogs are no exception! You can actually mish a team of beautiful Siberian huskies through forest glades and snowy mountain meadows. Take yourself back to your ancestral past, when sled-dogs used to be the primary method of transportation along the frontier. Transportation is provided, pick up times are an hour before activity time.
Make your holiday vacation extra special. If you are here with a partner or spouse you have the opportunity to take a scenic or dinner sleigh ride under the stars through quiet, unspoiled forest trails. Beautiful Belgian Draft horses will chauffeur you to a romantic dinner right here at Spencer's, which will make for an evening you won’t soon forget.
Snowmobile tours offer an adventurous escape into the heart of the Colorado Rockies, with miles of perfectly groomed trails and endless powder-filled bowls and meadows to explore. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never ridden a snowmobile before, or if you’re an experienced rider seeking an adrenaline-inspired experience, there is something for all skill levels to enjoy. You can choose to either join a guided tour or rent a snowmobile yourself for a day full of fun!
Come fish for the famed Lake Dillon Arctic Char at over 9,000 feet elevation! Lake Dillon is known to hold double-digit sized fished, making it one of the infamous ice fishing destinations in the west. Ice fishing is available to all ages. The season runs from November through April, weather dependent.
Ice skating is a fun activity the whole family can enjoy. Both Ice skating and hockey are offered at the Stephen C. West Ice Arena in Breckenridge. It’s available to all ages and all skill levels. Public skating, drop-in hockey, and "stick and puck" hockey sessions are available to the public at a variety of times throughout the year.
Cross country skiing gives people the opportunity to escape the crowds and experience true backcountry powder! The Nordic Center provides over 1,400 acres of groomed trails making it the perfect, and safest place to learn how to ski. They also provide snowcat adventures which can be a whole lot of fun for the little ones!
