3 Perfect Days: An Itinerary for a Fun, Safe Summer Vacation at Beaver Run

To help you plan a fun, safe summer vacation, here's a suggested itinerary for 3 Perfect Days in Breckenridge, Colorado.
Updated: June 2020

You're excited to arrive in Breckenridge and breathe in the cool, refreshing mountain air. As you drive into the charming historic town of Breckenridge, you arrive to your home sweet mountain home, at Beaver Run. The resort is perfectly situated just a quick walk from Main Street Breckenridge and right at the base of Peak 9, steps away from the hiking and biking trails.

Checking in

The Beaver Run front desk staff has already texted you about your arrival time and has your check-in packet ready to pick up in a safe way. They're there to welcome you, smiling under their masks, behind the plexiglass to safely say: "Welcome to Breckenridge."

You arrive at your 2-bedrom suite and ooh and ahh over the full kitchen, the views and your very own living room. You also notice the enhanced cleaning and sanitizing protocols and a packet of your own disinfecting wipes.

You've already ordered room service, so you unpack, take a step onto your private deck and take that deep breath of fresh Rocky Mountain air as you soak in the view of the slopes and savor the smell of the lodgepole pine trees.

Relaxing with a Massage Treatment

To help you truly transition into vacation mode, you've booked a massage treatment at The Spa at Beaver Run. You arrive and instantly you feel more relaxed and assured. The soothing music and essential oils start to melt away all of the stress. The therapist is wearing a mask and reviewing all of the protocols with you. Let the bliss begin! After 50 delightful minutes, you've forgotten all about work, schedules and have fully entered vacation mode.

Exploring Walkable Main Street Breckenridge

Before dinner, you have time to take a stroll down to Main Street Breckenridge and the pedestrian-friendly areas that feature outdoor cafes and seating areas. It's a quick 5-10 minute walk from Beaver Run to town. Once you cross the street, you put your mask on and notice that everyone else is being respectful and enjoying themselves.

You take in the sights, sounds, do some window shopping and get some baked goods at The Crown, an eclectic coffee shop in town. From there, you enjoy the walk back up the road to Beaver Run. You get ready for your dinner that you pick up and enjoy on the outdoor patio near the fire pit, watching the sun start to set. It's the perfect way to end your first day in Breck.

You're up early to enjoy breakfast that's delivered to your room. Beaver Run also delivers your picnic lunches directly to your room. You pack the lunches, water bottles, some Clif Bars, your mask and extra sunscreen in the new Cotopaxi backpack you bought yesterday in town at Outsider, an eco-friendly retail store in town, and you're off to explore the hiking trails.

Hiking with a Picnic Lunch

You start at the Steven C. West Ice Rink parking lot and enjoy a quick, easy hike through the forest to see Isak Heartstone, a 15-foot tall wooden sculpture of a troll. Along the way, you only pass a few people who respectfully step aside to maintain 6 feet of physical distancing. You take a few photos, post them on Instagram and enjoy the walk back. From there, you decide to venture out on a longer hike that's still accessible and perfect for kids or grandparents - the Sawmill Trail, a 1.5-mile hike. You start back at Beaver Run, reapply your sunscreen and hike along a stream up to a reservoir where you enjoy your picnic lunch with a scenic view and no one in sight.

Afternoon Fun: Horseback Riding and Outdoor Pool Time

After a relaxing lunch, you head back down to Beaver Run and plan for an afternoon
horseback trail ride followed by some relaxation and rest at Beaver Run's outdoor pool. The Breckenridge Stables are located just up the dirt road from Beaver Run. It's an hour and a half ride and you explore the trails and scenery from the saddle of your trusty steed and the experienced guide.

When you're back at Beaver Run, you change quickly into your bathing suits and take a plunge to cool off while ordering drinks and some snacks from the Resort (through the Skywalk Deli).

Dinner in Town

Next up - it's time to get ready for dinner in town. The Beaver Run concierge has helped you choose the perfect spot - an outdoor courtyard at Twist for dinner. You go back to your suite at Beaver Run to refreshen up, get ready and then you're heading into town. You stop by the patio at Aurum for happy hour and appetizers and then walk across the street to Twist. You're seated at a table under a tree with a stunning view of the snow capped peaks of Breckenridge Ski Resort. Dinner is served. It's delicious and the perfect end to an action-packed day.

You return back to Beaver Run, full, happy and ready to tackle your final day in Breck.

It's your last day in Breckenridge and you're up early again with a room service breakfast delivered directly to your room. You decide to choose your adventure today. Some of your group wants to ride bikes. The others want to fly fish. So, you divide and conquer.

Relaxing afternoon: Pool time & BBQ at the Beav

After a morning of adventures, you meet up for quick snack at the Kenosha deck in town and then walk back to Beaver Run for a final few hours of pool time and then you venture down to Beaver Run's mountainside patio for a barbecue lunch al fresco with a stunning view and access to a miniature golf hole, corn hole and other lawn games.

It's time to pack up and leave. You want to do more - rafting, kayaking, shopping. And vow to come back to Breckenridge soon. As you drive away, you wistfully start planning your next vacation to Breckenridge and even start looking at real estate in town.

It's been the perfect three days and you'll be back for more.

Rafting Adventure

You're all up early to watch the sun rise as you eat your in-room breakfast delivered by Beaver Run. Then, it's off to the Arkansas River, about an hour-and-a-half drive from Breckenridge for an exhilirating morning of rafting on the river through Class 3 rapids with an experienced guide. You've already arranged your check-out at Beaver Run and have stored your luggage back in the lobby. There's no need to rush back, so you take your time driving back to town, stopping in Leadville and then Frisco and finally stopping for lunch in downtown Breckenridge before it truly is time to leave. You enjoy one last swim in the pool, clean off, change and sadly pack the car, take a few last photos of the Colorado Rockies and vow to return - soon. Very soon.
