Driving into Breckenridge on Highway 9 it’s hard to miss the ski runs snaking down the mountain on the five peaks the comprise the Ski Resort. While a prominent landmark in the historic mining town of Breckenridge, the ski resort is not the only attraction bringing people to the mountains. There are a dozens of things to enjoy in Breckenridge besides downhill skiing and riding. Skip the lifts one day and explore the more hidden gems of Breckenridge with these awesome winter activities.

Forget horse power and let these huskies take you for a ride. Located on Tiger Road, about 25 minutes from Breckenridge, Good Times Dogsledding will help you mush a team through the Swan River Valley and show you the beautiful back country of Breckenridge. A truly unique and thrilling experience, Good times is sure to bring out the dog-lover in you.
Cover snowy miles in minutes with a snowmobile tour through the Rockies. Through trails, trees and meadows you can explore a winter wonderland as you follow your snowmobile guide to take in the incredible sights of Summit County. Whether you are an adrenaline junkie looking for a fast paced ride, or just want a leisurely scenic excursion into the mountains, your guide will tailor your experience to make sure you have a fun and safe tour.

Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing
Both the Breckenridge Nordic Center and the Gold Run Nordic Center offer trail passes, lessons, rentals and tours for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing are great ways to take in the landscape in Breckenridge and can be an excellent workout. The Town of Breckenridge also maintains miles of free trails for cross country skiers and snowshoeing explores.
Ice Skating and Hockey
The Stephen C. West Ice Arena is located on the south end of town and features public skating, hockey and is also the home of the Breckenridge Bucks Junior Hockey Team. Cheering on the Bucks is a great way to spend a Friday or Saturday night with the family and friends. Parking for is available after 2 pm, or you can hop on our complimentary shuttle.

Frequently named a top Fat Biking destination in Colorado, Breckenridge is blazing the trail for this new winter sport. Similar to summer mountain biking, fat bikes have wider tires (as the name implies) keeping the bike on top of the snow and providing better traction. Tours and rentals available at several locations in town, or ask our concierge for assistance.
Sledding and Tubing
For a fun and adrenaline pumping activity, try the Frisco Tubing Hill. Located about 20 minutes north of Breckenridge, kids and adults will love sliding down the 1,200 foot slope in an inflated inner tube. Reservations are recommended and tubing lasts until 6 pm. If you want something more mellow, pick up a sled at the local City Market and head to Carter Park in the Town of Breckenridge. This park is dog friendly and has a great sledding hill open to the public. On a cloudy night, Carter Park can get a little dark so be sure to bring a headlamp or flashlight.
